Season Your Words with Grace
Share truth in a way that makes people want to hear more.
Colossians 4:5–6 (ESV) — “Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.”
How we speak about Jesus matters. Paul tells us to be wise with every opportunity and gracious in every conversation. Truth should never be used as a weapon to win an argument or prove that we are right. Our words should be seasoned with the kindness, patience, and hope of Christ. Just as salt brings out flavor, grace can make truth easier to receive. Notice that Paul says we should know how to answer “each person.” Sharing faith is personal; it requires listening and responding to the person in front of us with wisdom and love.
Do your conversations about faith sound more like an argument to win or an invitation to meet Jesus?
