Be Ready to Share Your Hope
Your hope in Jesus is worth explaining with gentleness and respect.
1 Peter 3:14–16 (ESV) — “But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.”
Peter does not tell believers to force conversations; he tells them to live with such visible hope that people begin to ask questions. When they do, we should be ready to explain why we trust Jesus. Preparation matters and so does our posture. We are called to answer with gentleness and respect. If we do not have all the answers when asked we can simply explain the hope we have experienced and humbly continue seeking answers together. A calm, gracious response can reflect the character of Christ as clearly as the words we say.
How would you explain the reason for your hope in Jesus in one or two sentences?
