Dr. Dormetria Robinson Thompson Bible Verse: John 15 NIV Sermon Title: Stay Connected Bible References: 1 Cor. 2:9 Phil 4:13 John 15:16 Sermon References: THE CUTTING God wants to cut off the dead things in our lives that are not bearing fruit. THE PRUNING But here is the amazing thing about gardening, God and the True Vine. In the process of flourishing once the dead branches have been cut off, there must be a pruning process. CROSS POLLINATION And Jesus loves us so much that through the pruning process He will allow our fruit to cross-pollinate in fields and gardens that we have not directly sown. BUT HERE’S THE LESSON - It’s not our job to micromanage our seeds. It’s our job to be pruned and grow. STAY IN THE VINE Now, before, during, and after the cutting and pruning, we must remain IN the Vine. The Challenges of not staying IN the Vine: 1. You are not covered; you will have shallow roots, shallow relationships, shallow outcomes, wither away, thrown out, placed in the fire called Hell on earth and beyond when you die. 2. Another challenge of not being IN the Vine is that you lack direction. Benefits of staying IN the Vine: 1. You can ask for anything and it will be granted to you. 2. A second benefit of being IN the Vine is that you are covered. 3. The third benefit of staying IN the Vine is that you will produce things that will outlast your current season, your lifetime, and end up blessing those who will come after you are no longer living on earth as a result of staying connected. 4. Not only that, but staying connected IN Him includes remaining in His love. HERE’S THE LESSON - Sometimes the Gardener will plant you IN the Vine in an unexpected place."
