Grace on the Ground | Philemon 1:1–7 | The Personal Epistles
In this evening sermon from The Personal Epistles series, we begin Paul’s letter to Philemon by considering the transforming power of God’s grace.
Philemon introduces us to three very different people—Paul, Philemon, and Onesimus—and shows how the gospel changes hearts, relationships, and the life of the church. As we study Philemon 1:1–7, we see Paul’s personal greeting, his gratitude for Philemon’s faith and love, and a compelling picture of grace at work in ordinary life.
This message encourages us to ask whether the grace we have received is making us more useful, more loving, and more refreshing to others in Christ.
